Pascal Rogé is an ambassador of French music worldwide. Firstly, due to his extensive discography released by DECCA: featuring works by Fauré, Debussy, Satie, Poulenc, as well as the complete piano concertos of Saint-Saëns and Ravel with Charles Dutoit. Many of these recordings have been awarded prizes, the most prestigious being the GRAMOPHONE AWARD for the best record of the year in 1988 for a Poulenc-dedicated album. In 1997, another GRAMOPHONE AWARD recognized the pianist in the “Chamber Music” category. Secondly, because of his numerous tours each season, Pascal Rogé dedicates more than fifty concerts to French music in Germany, particularly in Leipzig and Hamburg, as well as in Vienna, Geneva, Lausanne, London, and at various festivals in Finland, England, at Carnegie Hall in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland, Montreal, Philadelphia, and Bruges. Pascal Rogé has toured in New Zealand and Hong Kong, in Japan with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra of Tokyo, as well as in Southeast Asia with the London Festival Orchestra and in Australia with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Moreover, the artist is regularly invited to Canada, where he enjoys privileged connections, especially with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Charles Dutoit. It all began at the age of nine when Pascal Rogé made his first public appearance with Debussy’s Preludes. A few years later, he won the First Prize in Piano and Chamber Music at the Paris Conservatoire, and then studied for three years with Julius Katschen. His first recitals in Paris and London at the age of 17 were triumphant, earning him an exclusive contract with DECCA. Pascal Rogé won the First Prize at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaut Competition, as well as the Grand Prize at the Georges Enesco Competition in Bucharest. A passionate chamber musician, he has given numerous recitals with Chantal Juillet, Michel Portal, the Pasquier Trio, and Pierre Amoyal, with whom he recorded the violin sonatas of Brahms and Fauré. Finally, Pascal Rogé has also made a televised recording of Johann Sebastian Bach’s complete Well-Tempered Clavier.
