Hélène Dautry’s career is atypical due to the exceptional speed of its development.

She began studying the cello at the age of fifteen and, five years later, was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM) in the class of Maurice Gendron.

After obtaining a brilliant First Prize in cello, she continued her training by completing an advanced postgraduate cycle at the same institution.

A laureate of the Maurice Ravel International Academy Prize, she was appointed soloist of the Jean-François Paillard Chamber Orchestra in 1987. For nearly fifteen years, she pursued an extensive solo career, touring with the ensemble alongside concertmaster Gérard Jarry and performing in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.

She has also developed a strong teaching activity while continuing her career as a concert performer.

Hélène Dautry currently teaches at the Royal College of Music in London, the CRR of Paris, and the École Normale de Musique de Paris.

She has shared the stage with many outstanding musicians and has performed in recent years in London (Purcell Room, Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall), Paris (Salle Cortot, Musée Henner), as well as in China, Italy, Norway, and other countries.

In 2016, for the Lyrinx label, Hélène Dautry recorded the two Brahms sonatas with pianist Sandra Chamoux.

She regularly performs in sonata formation with pianist Frédéric Vaysse-Knitter and in trio with Elena Rozanova and Annick Roussin.
