With end-of-session concert in the conservatory auditorium
Fee €500 / student
Jean-Michel Ferran, a graduate of the CNSM for music and the University of Paris X for philosophy, directed the Paul Dukas Conservatory in Paris for almost thirty years. He now devotes himself to his career as conductor, composer and musicologist. He has just published a biography/portrait of the pianist, composer and pedagogue Odette Gartenlaub (Aedam Musicae), whom he knew well. A magnificent pianist, student notably of Marguerite Long, Lazare Levy, Yves Nat, with a beautiful career little known today, and a composer of great talent, whom Jean-Michel Ferran strives to help us rediscover. He also evokes the period of the Occupation, and the moment when Odette Gartenlaub, like all her Jewish fellow students, was excluded from the conservatory, and the Prix de Rome, which she obtained after the war, and her talents as a pedagogue.
