Tâm studied percussion at the Regional Conservatory of Nice in the class of Mr. Jacques CARRE, where he obtained a first prize in June 1999. He continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon with Jean GEOFFROY, where he earned his National Diploma of Higher Studies in June 2003. During these years in Lyon, he founded the trio YARN with Yi-Ping YANG and Raphaël AGGERY. In February 2002, they won the 1st Prize at the Luxembourg International Percussion Trio Competition. The same year, he obtained 2nd Prize in the solo category at the Clermont-Ferrand International Vibraphone Competition.

2003 also marked the beginning of a long-lasting collaboration with the company ARCOSM and their very first show, “ECHOA”, directed by dancer Thomas GUERRY and percussionist-composer Camille ROCAILLEUX. On stage, dance and percussion meet, explore, and merge with both humor and poetry. The success of ECHOA led its performers to appear on numerous national stages (La Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Lille, Paris…) and international stages (London, Lisbon, Brussels, Moscow, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Wellington, New Zealand…), as well as at many festivals abroad.

He became an Assistant Professor at the Regional Conservatory of Nice in 2003, then Artistic Education Professor in 2006 at the Conservatory of Limeil-Brévannes. Between 2008 and 2016, he taught at the Regional Conservatory of Toulon Provence Méditerranée. Tâm is soloist and artistic director of Percussions de Strasbourg and has been teaching at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon since 2015, where he was appointed Principal Professor in September 2021. Tâm was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture in 2019.
