CRR de Rueil-Malmaison

Double Bass

Session #1 - From 20 Jul To 26 Jul

Teacher bio:

Philipper Noharet is a French double bassist whose career is shaped by an early and profound relationship with his instrument. Born in Nice, he discovered the double bass as a child through the use of a mini double bass with his teacher André Marillier, a formative encounter that set him on the path of a lifelong vocation. His talent emerged early: at the age of thirteen, he was awarded a First Prize at the Conservatory before continuing his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon.

At just seventeen years old, he joined the Orchestre National de l'Opéra de Lyon, where he trained at the highest level under the baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Kent Nagano. This early immersion in the great symphonic and operatic repertoire profoundly shaped his musical approach. He later joined the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris, of which he is now a member.

Alongside his orchestral career, Philippe Noharet has developed a rich and open artistic path, deeply engaged with contemporary music and cross-disciplinary projects. He collaborates regularly with ensembles such as TM+, Colors of Invention and the World Orchestra for Peace, performing on major stages and at international festivals throughout Europe, North America and Asia.

His career has also led him into the world of film music, where he has taken part in numerous recording projects with leading composers including Michel Legrand, Alexandre Desplat, Vladimir Cosma, Claude Bolling, Gabriel Yared and Pierre Adenot. In this realm, the double bass becomes a narrative voice, at times discreet, at times powerfully expressive.

Deeply committed to musical transmission, Philippe Noharet teaches double bass at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Rueil-Malmaison, as well as at the Pôle Supérieur de Dijon. He regularly gives masterclasses in France and abroad, sharing an approach to music that is both demanding and open-minded.

A complete artist at the crossroads of repertoires and aesthetics, Philippe Noharet has built a career in which depth of sound, collective listening and artistic curiosity remain the guiding principles.
