Ruqing Hou, cello and chamber music teacher at the Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Normal University. Deputy Secretary General of the Cello Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association. Artistic director of the Xuhui District Children’s Palace String Orchestra and the Wenlai School String Orchestra.

She graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with honours in 2002, having studied under Professor Zou Xuping, Professor Xia Jinglu, Professor Chen Jiuhe and Professor Xie Guangyu. After graduation, she joined the Conservatory of Music of Shanghai Normal University as a cello and chamber music teacher, a position she holds to this day. In 2020, she was admitted as a full-time graduate student at Shanghai Normal University and received a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the School of Music in 2023, under the supervision of Associate Professor Xie Guangyu. During this period, she also served as principal cellist of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Shanghai Normal University, performing in France, Japan, South Korea and various parts of China.

As a teacher, many of her students have won gold awards in major international and domestic competitions. She has trained numerous excellent music teachers for schools across Shanghai.

As a chamber musician, she has given many solo, ensemble and chamber music concerts. She has participated on multiple occasions in the “Shanghai Spring” festival and other special chamber music concerts.
