Trained by Brigitte Engerer, Jean Koerner and Christian Ivaldi, Jonas Vitaud obtained four First Prizes at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (piano, chamber music, piano accompaniment, harmony).

He gives a central place to chamber music and performs with artists such as singers Karine Deshayes, Sumi Hwang and Yumiko Tanimura; cellists Victor Julien-Laferrière, Steven Isserlis and Yan Levionnois; violinists Mi-Sa Yang and Ragnhild Hemsing; pianist Adam Laloum; clarinetists Raphaël Sévère and Olivier Patey; and the Zaïde and Hermès Quartets…
Deeply interested in contemporary music, Jonas Vitaud has worked with major figures of musical creation such as Henri Dutilleux, György Kurtág, Thierry Escaich, Philippe Hersant, Yann Robin and Bruno Ducol. These encounters testify to his openness to a wide variety of musical languages and aesthetics.
In 2024, Jonas notably premiered Bruno Ducol’s Opus 50 Entre regard et silence, with soprano Laura Holm and actor Matthieu Marie, at the Messiaen Festival in the Pays de la Meije.
Jonas Vitaud has recorded a large number of albums.
In 2025, an album devoted to Antonín Dvořák’s piano music will be released on the MIRARE label.
He records as a soloist with MIRARE and has received numerous awards, including a CHOC Classica and Disque du mois (June 2021) on Apple Music Classical for his album Beethoven 1802; 5 Diapason for his Tchaikovsky recording; Coup de cœur from Pianiste magazine and Impressive CD according to The WholeNote (Canada) for his double album Debussy, jeunes années.
In 2016, he received the Grand Prix Soliste Instrumental from the Académie Charles Cros (CHOC Classica, 5 Diapason) for his recording devoted to Dutilleux and Liszt, released by NoMadMusic.
In chamber music, two albums were released in 2019 on MIRARE and ALPHA Classics: one devoted to Mozart with violinist Mi-Sa Yang, and the other dedicated to the Russian repertoire with cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière.
Jonas Vitaud has been teaching at the CNSM de Paris since 2013 and has been Professor of Piano since the 2022/2023 academic year. He is an associate artist at the Fondation Singer-Polignac (www.singer-polignac.org).
